Prayer Lock helps you keep distracting apps locked until you read a few verses of Scripture. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your iPhone, and why.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your settings, lock schedules, reading progress, streaks and saved verses are stored only on your device.
- The Bible text is bundled in the app and read offline.
- Prayer Lock has no account. We never receive your name, email or reading history.
Screen Time
Prayer Lock uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) to lock the apps you choose. Apple shows you the list of apps; Prayer Lock only receives private tokens that stand for your choices and never learns which apps they are or how you use them. Turn off access anytime in iPhone Settings, Screen Time.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to check whether you have an active purchase. RevenueCat receives:
- A random ID created by the app, not linked to your name or email.
- Your purchase and subscription history.
- Basic device and app details needed to verify purchases, such as app version and country.

Product analytics
We use PostHog to understand which features help people read, for example that onboarding finished or a reading was completed. These events carry a random ID and basic device details, are not linked to your identity, and are never used for advertising or shared with data brokers. See PostHog's privacy policy.
Verse explanations (optional)
Pro subscribers can turn on AI explanations of a verse. Only when you ask, the app sends the verse reference, its text, the translation and the random purchase ID above to our server, which checks your subscription and asks Anthropic's Claude for an explanation. Nothing else about you is sent. Anthropic processes the request under its privacy policy and does not use it to train its models under our commercial terms. You can turn explanations off in Settings.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your device. Notification permission is used only for reading reminders, lock heads-ups and the reminder before a free trial ends.
What we do not do
- No advertising and no ad tracking.
- No sale or sharing of personal data.
- No access to your contacts, photos, location or microphone.
Deleting your data
Delete the app to remove everything stored on your device and lift every lock. To ask about purchase records held by RevenueCat or analytics events, email us and we will delete what we can link to your purchase ID.
Children
Prayer Lock is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above.
